Serving Gulfport, Florida
Native landscaping built for Gulfport.
Funky, walkable, salt-touched. Gulfport gardens deserve as much personality as the town itself. We design native landscapes for bungalows, cottages, and historic homes in the Art District and beyond.
Gulfport Gardens
A garden built for Gulfport, not shipped in from somewhere else.
Gulfport sits right on Boca Ciega Bay, which means salt air, warm breezes, and soil that ranges from sandy to surprisingly clay-heavy depending on your lot. Old bungalow yards here often have decades of compacted turf on top of native sand.
We design gardens that match Gulfport's vibe: native wildflowers, butterfly and hummingbird habitat, edible permaculture corners, and the kind of low-maintenance beauty that lets you actually enjoy your yard instead of fighting it.
The town already has a strong sustainability culture. Native landscaping fits right in. And your neighbors will notice.

Good questions
Gulfport questions
about native landscaping
Gulfport sits right on Boca Ciega Bay, so salt tolerance matters. Native plants that thrive here include sea oats, beach sunflower, saw palmetto, seagrape, firebush, muhly grass, and gumbo limbo. These handle salt spray and Gulfport's sandy coastal soil.
Absolutely, and Gulfport is one of the best places for it. Native wildflowers like blanket flower, tickseed, beach verbena, and dune sunflower attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. We design pollinator gardens sized to Gulfport lots, from cottage yards to bay-front properties.
Older Gulfport bungalows often have decades of compacted builder fill on top of native sandy soil. New construction sometimes has clay brought in from other sites. We assess soil condition first and amend only where native plants actually need help.
Yes. Gulfport has a strong sustainability culture and encourages native plant landscaping. Florida state law also protects your right to have a Florida-Friendly yard. We handle any permitting or HOA questions as part of the design process.
Very close. Our office is at 2621 4th Ave S in St. Petersburg, about a 10 minute drive from Gulfport. We work there regularly and know the microclimates, common soil issues, and the neighborhood style.
Meet the family
The Wray-Weisensel Family
Kiamesha Wray and Justus Weisensel are the couple behind Living Spaces Gardening and Living Restorations. Family owned, family operated. Based in St. Petersburg since day one.
Kiamesha is a certified Florida Master Naturalist. She grew up on dig sites with her archaeologist mother and spent weekends camping along Florida's rivers and springs with her father. Justus is a premier woodworker and builder. He's the one grading your soil, placing the boulders, building the things that have to last.
Their kids fuel everything they do. Every native garden they restore is a piece of the Florida the next generation will inherit. Their crew has been with them for years. When they take on your project, these are the people who show up.
