Pinellas Park sits inland with heavier soil that drains slower than the coastal cities around it. Combined with shallow grading typical of mid-century builds, summer storms have nowhere to go. Native rain gardens with deep-rooted plants like cordgrass, swamp milkweed, and red maple can absorb stormwater and solve the problem.
Inland Pinellas soil tends to be heavier and hold moisture longer. Natives that thrive in these conditions include red maple, bald cypress, swamp milkweed, Virginia willow, cinnamon fern, and cordgrass. We match each plant to the specific drainage on your property.
Yes. Once established, native Florida plants need far less irrigation than turf or non-native ornamentals. Many homeowners see their water bills drop significantly after conversion, especially through Florida's October-through-May dry season.
No. We design what works for you. Some homeowners convert the whole yard. Others keep a small turf area for kids or pets and surround it with native beds. The goal is a yard that works with Pinellas Park's climate, not a one-size-fits-all template.
Our office is at 2621 4th Ave S in St. Petersburg, about 15 minutes south of Pinellas Park. We work the area regularly and know the soil, flooding patterns, and what thrives here.
Meet the family
The Wray-Weisensel Family
Kiamesha Wray and Justus Weisensel are the couple behind Living Spaces Gardening and Living Restorations. Family owned, family operated. Based in St. Petersburg since day one.
Kiamesha is a certified Florida Master Naturalist. She grew up on dig sites with her archaeologist mother and spent weekends camping along Florida's rivers and springs with her father. Justus is a premier woodworker and builder. He's the one grading your soil, placing the boulders, building the things that have to last.
Their kids fuel everything they do. Every native garden they restore is a piece of the Florida the next generation will inherit. Their crew has been with them for years. When they take on your project, these are the people who show up.
