Serving Madeira Beach, Florida
Native landscaping built for Madeira Beach.
Mad Beach yards face the same coastal reality as the rest of the barrier islands: salt, sand, wind, storms. We design native landscapes that handle it instead of fighting it.
Madeira Beach Gardens
A garden built for Madeira Beach, not shipped in from somewhere else.
Madeira Beach is a barrier island community where every yard deals with Gulf salt air and sandy soil. Non-native ornamentals rarely last more than a few seasons here. Storm surge can wipe out entire landscapes.
Native plants built for Florida's coast, the species that grow naturally in dunes and coastal hammocks, handle all of this. They come back after storms. They need less water. They bring in pollinators and wildlife.
We design Madeira Beach landscapes around the reality of island living. No fantasy tropicals that fail in the first winter. Just plants that actually belong here.

about native landscaping
Madeira Beach is pure barrier island, so salt-tolerant natives work best: sea oats, saw palmetto, seagrape, beach sunflower, dune sunflower, coontie, gumbo limbo, and cabbage palm. These species evolved on Florida's coast and handle everything the island throws at them.
Better than most alternatives. Native trees with deep root systems, live oak, gumbo limbo, cabbage palm, resist storm winds and anchor soil during surge. Shallow-rooted ornamentals routinely come down in storms. The natives bounce back.
Absolutely. Gumbo limbo, seagrape, and cabbage palm have a distinct tropical feel and they actually belong in Florida. You get the aesthetic without the constant replacement costs of non-native tropicals.
Most do, and Florida state law protects your right to install Florida-Friendly landscaping regardless of HOA preferences. We handle HOA communication and documentation when needed.
Our office is at 2621 4th Ave S in St. Petersburg, about 25 minutes from Madeira Beach. We work the barrier islands regularly.
Meet the family
The Wray-Weisensel Family
Kiamesha Wray and Justus Weisensel are the couple behind Living Spaces Gardening and Living Restorations. Family owned, family operated. Based in St. Petersburg since day one.
Kiamesha is a certified Florida Master Naturalist. She grew up on dig sites with her archaeologist mother and spent weekends camping along Florida's rivers and springs with her father. Justus is a premier woodworker and builder. He's the one grading your soil, placing the boulders, building the things that have to last.
Their kids fuel everything they do. Every native garden they restore is a piece of the Florida the next generation will inherit. Their crew has been with them for years. When they take on your project, these are the people who show up.
