Serving Redington Beach, Florida
Native landscaping built for Redington Beach.
Barrier island living means salt, sand, wind, and storm surge. Redington Beach yards need plants that thrive in those conditions, not fight them. We design native landscapes built for the reality of life on the Gulf.
Redington Beach Gardens
A garden built for Redington Beach, not shipped in from somewhere else.
Redington Beach is a narrow barrier island between the Gulf and the Intracoastal. Every property deals with salt air, sandy soil, and hurricane risk. Non-native ornamentals rarely survive a full storm season.
The good news: the native plants that grow naturally in Florida's dunes and coastal hammocks are built for exactly these conditions. Sea oats, saw palmetto, beach sunflower, seagrape, and gumbo limbo handle salt spray and come back from storms stronger.
We design Redington Beach landscapes the way nature would, working with the barrier island ecology, not against it.

about native landscaping
Barrier island natives built for salt, sand, and wind include sea oats, beach sunflower, dune sunflower, seagrape, saw palmetto, gumbo limbo, coontie, and cabbage palm. These are the same species that hold the dunes naturally and survive hurricanes that wipe out non-native ornamentals.
Deep-rooted native vegetation slows water, anchors soil, and reduces erosion during storm surge. While no landscape can fully prevent damage from major hurricanes, a properly designed native landscape performs dramatically better than turf and shallow-rooted ornamentals.
It's an expensive one. Most non-native tropical plants either die from salt exposure, blow down in storms, or require constant replacement. Native barrier island species were selected by millions of years of storm cycles and salt exposure to thrive in exactly these conditions.
We focus on new installations and ongoing maintenance for native landscapes. After major storms, we can assess and replace native plants that were lost, but we don't provide emergency debris removal. We can refer you to contractors who do.
Our office is at 2621 4th Ave S in St. Petersburg, about 25 minutes from Redington Beach. We work the barrier islands regularly and understand the unique challenges of coastal properties.
Meet the family
The Wray-Weisensel Family
Kiamesha Wray and Justus Weisensel are the couple behind Living Spaces Gardening and Living Restorations. Family owned, family operated. Based in St. Petersburg since day one.
Kiamesha is a certified Florida Master Naturalist. She grew up on dig sites with her archaeologist mother and spent weekends camping along Florida's rivers and springs with her father. Justus is a premier woodworker and builder. He's the one grading your soil, placing the boulders, building the things that have to last.
Their kids fuel everything they do. Every native garden they restore is a piece of the Florida the next generation will inherit. Their crew has been with them for years. When they take on your project, these are the people who show up.
